Abstract

Hall (Philosophy East and West 28, no. 3, July 1978) calls for a more radical notion of creativity than Whitehead's, which he finds in the Taoist vision of Lao Tzu.  He finds Whitehead's creativity restricted by God's activity in imposing his order on the world.  Such a limitation may be true in traditional theism, but Whitehead's God is the source of novelty.  Without sharp forms, it is difficult to see how any Taoist creativity can account for creative novelty.  [Abstract from The Philosopher's Index]
