Hall, David L. Review of Concerning Creativity: A Comparison of Whitehead, Neville, and Chu Hsi by John Berthrong Philosophy East and West 54, no. 4 (October 2004): 571-576.
Abstract
In this book, Berthroing looks beyond Western culture to defend Whitehead's novel understanding of creativity against the criticisms of such mainstream ontologists as Robert Neville. To defend Whitehead against Neville, he appeals to the work of the Chinese Neo-Confucian Chu Hsi. His wonderful book demonstrates that part of the difficulty we have in understanding Whitehead is a result of his having philosophized from intuitions long marginalized in the West.
