Raud, Rein. "Traditions and Tendencies: A Reply to Carine Defoort." Philosophy East & West 56, no. 4 (October 2006): 661-664.
Abstract
The writer replies to Carine
Defoort's response
to his discussion of her views in this issue. He notes that Defoort's
response has clarified most issues that provoked him in her initial
article on this topic (2001;51:393-413), particularly in emphasizing
that her "family model" of philosophy is meant to be descriptive and
not prescriptive. Nevertheless, he finds the response a bit too
pessimistic even as a description of the present situation, and he is
also inclined to disagree with Defoort's certainty that "a world
philosophy has not arisen and is not on the rise."
